As you all know, colorful birds such as cardinals and jays stand out beautifully in the snow. I was watching out the back windows a couple hours ago and an immature Cooper's hawk swooped thru the yard and nabbed a jay in a pretty spectacular and seemingly easy manner. This is probably wrong of me, but I was hoping it had been a ubiquitous mourning dove and not one of my yard's only 2 jays!
Nothing rare in the yard so far; just bigger numbers.
