After I filled my deck feeders first thing this morning, I noticed the face of a red-phase Eastern screech-owl poking out of its box on the edge of the woods.  Too early for nesting, but a very hopeful sign!
 
Then a raucous blue jay arrived a few minutes later, and the owl disappeared back inside the box.
