Hi all,

Went out this morning to test the accessibility of the parks. I drove to Aspen Hill first, but quickly turned around, as the parking lot wasn't plowed. I then drove up to Lake Needwood.
The roads were plowed, the best parking I found was by the snack shack.  The other lots were plowed (somewhat) but ice and snow covered. It was interesting watching the American Robins and Bluebirds foraging in the streams and creeks, looking for food. The lake is very frozen over, with little open water.

Birds were few and far between today. Here's my limited list:

Canada Geese  5
Mallard   6
Turkey Vulture  3
Eastern Bluebird 8-10
American Robins -flocks of 12-20
Golden crowned Kinglet  1
Carolina Chickadee  3
Tufted Titmouse  2
American Crow  5
Yellow-rumped Warbler  1
Bluejay 2
Mourning Dove  10
Red bellied Woodpecker  2
Pileated Woodpecker (heard) 1
Downy Woodpecker  2
White breasted Nuthatch  1
