Our first and only Snowy Owl was seen in the early 90's walking back and
forth on the peak of the roof of a one-story tract house in a well-developed
Rockville, Montgomery County, neighborhood while crows dived at it. What
was probably the same bird later wandered into downtown Bethesda and ended
up dead on an office building roof in downtown Washington after apparently
colliding with an air handler unit.
