I went out on Baltimore bird club's trip to Poplar Island on Monday. Before the trip I started at Pickering Creek, highlights included 8 "Richardson's" Cackling Geese and a Common x Green-winged Teal showing both vertical and horizontal white stripes. At Black Walnut Point there was a group of 5 Redhead among 1000+ Surf Scoters and 100's of Long-tailed Duck. I will leave the Poplar trip list to someone else, however Jim Stasz and I saw a Black-headed Gull. Unfortunately, the sighting was brief, and was unable to get others on the bird before it was gone. After the trip a group of us relocated the Red-headed Woodpecker that has wintered on Tilghman Island. At Black Walnut Point again there were 8 Great Cormorant on the lighthouse to the south. Afterwards we parted ways, I headed home via Pickering Creek again. On Gross Coate Rd., I found another 5 "Richardson's" Cckling Geese before calling it a day.
