During my walk this morning in the Susquehanna
State park campground I heard some Tundra Swans
calling but also some "barking" that I had never
heard them make. When the flock came into view, I
saw that there were Snow Geese mixed in with the
swans. Two large flocks flew over. Very rough
estimates are 200 Tundra Swans and 100 Snow Geese.
I have never seen them flock together like that.
It wasn't two different flocks that happened to be
close together. The geese and swans were in the
same flocks and mixed together in the V formation.

The eagle looked down on the river below
And he wrapped his wings round him and he fell
like a stone
And the big salmon fought but the talons held true
And he shuddered as the world turned from silver
to blue
