Morning All,
Tundra Swans are apparently still on the move this morning. Shortly before 8 AM, I watched a flock of 40 as they flew right over my head, not as high as the many and large flocks of Canada Geese, which were everywhere! About 8:20 another smaller flock of 18 flew over, heading due north. The geese seem a bit off course, heading more ENE. Since yesterday afternoon I have seen more Canada Geese in the air over my yard than I have seen anywhere in Carroll County since we moved here. Also small flocks of Ring-billed Gulls, one flock with a Herring Gull, yesterday aftenoon. The owl was not in his hole this morning, though I watched him until almost dark last night, while out listening for woodcocks (no).
Bluebirds are checking out the boxes now, so clean 'em out and put 'em up.

Absolutely last nite was great! I heard MANY migrating groups starting
round 8:00 PM far overhead. I just love their musical calls. Somehow thay
ound a bit happier heading north. Wish I was...

Here in Silver Spring, just inside the Beltway of Rt29, I've heard at least
three waves of Tundra Swans calling distantly overhead in the last couple of
hours (10:30PM - 12:30AM). Must be a good flight night.
In previous years, I've occasionally been able to run out into the street
in time to catch a glimpse of their pale forms in the glow of the street
lighting as they pass over, but none of tonight's birds have sounded that
close.
Still, magical and haunting treat here in suburbia!
Cheers
