Hi Patricia - that's very interesting. I remember years ago being on a pelagic trip out of New Jersey sometime in September. The most notable thing about that day was the number of Merlins, Green Darner dragonflies and Red Bats we encountered far offshore, making the water crossing from the southern shore of Long Island as they headed south down the coast. In fact, we saw several Merlins catching and snacking on darners, on the wing - fast food for migrant falcons, I guess!
