After viewing the Tufted Duck early in the morning Debbie Terry and I checked as many shorebird locations in Caroline and Talbot counties that we could get to in a day trip. We traveled as far south as Oak Grove in southern Caroline and as far west as Spring Road in Talbot. There is excellent shorebird habitat with hundreds of fields holding standing water. Unfortunately we found only two species. On Colby Road in Talbot there were at least 27 Snipe and about 20 Killdeer. On Havercamp Road in Caroline there were a Killdeer and a Snipe. Other than a few more scattered Killdeer we found no other shorebirds. Other highlights that I do not get to see here were Bald Eagle and Osprey on nests, and hundreds of Tundra Swans in the fields. We also saw two Blue-winged Teal, the best of the ducks we encountered.
