This afternoon a co-worker described seeing what he believed was a Swallow-tailed Kite on Saturday (3/27/10). He saw it (without binoculars) for about two minutes as it circled and lazily swooped fairly low overhead. He described the black and white plumage and the deeply forked tail. He was in Dorchester County along Oldfield Rd, which is north of Blackwater NWR.

I know this is very early for this species, but I thought I should report it anyway since it is one of the more distinctive raptors to recognize, even for a non-birder. He is under orders to call me asap if he sees it again, which isn't very likely.
