Location: Oxbow Lake
Observation date: 4/2/10
Notes: Visited the Oxbow Lake Nature Preserve and ate my lunch while looking
for shorebirds and other stuff. What caught my eye were frogs in a mating
frenzy. All of a sudden a huge, giant Oxbow Lake Snapping Turtle cruised in and
began munching on frogs. At one point, one of the frogs jumped on its back and
rested there for awhile. It was quite a circle of life event. On the bird front,
it was mid-day, temperatures near 70 degrees, and just beautiful outside, so not
a lot was happening.
