On my 4th try at a Painted Bunting in Maryland and second attempt to
see this particular Painted Bunting on Wakefield Lane in Bowie, I was
not disappointed. I arrived at the location at 7:20AM this morning,
and by 7:30 he showed up along the back row of shrubs. Over the next
40 minutes this brilliant bunting put on quite a show, feeding on the
ground just feet away and warming himself in the early morning light
while perched in the open. This afforded ample photographing
opportunities, if only I could have stopped shaking from the
excitement!
