On Saturday April 10 Jon Ranson and I walked Greenbury point in the afternoon. At dusk we happened upon a road leading towards a swamp. In a low spot there was some water right next to a stand of phragmites. As we approached, the frogs were nearly deafening. Which might be why we got a great look at a sora rail. The light was fading, but the small rail was very distinct, with a pale (yellow, with mud on it) bill and darkish body. It scurried around happily in the greenery and the mud a bit, coming to the middle of the dirt road and poking in the water. At some point it faded quietly in the grasses.

Also, today we saw our FOY Caspian Tern at Schoolhouse Pond as well as a nice blue-headed vireo at Jug Bay.
And tons of laughing gulls at Jug Bay - it was NOISY out there !
