Hello all.
I visited the Swan Creek/Cox Creek Dredge Facility for a couple of hours this morning.
Highlights:
Great Blue Heron: 4 One seen carrying a stick and flying west-nw, no doubt towards Ft. Carroll
Little Blue Heron: 2
Osprey: 2 NB by the new wetland
American Coot: 1
Belted Kingfisher: 1 male
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher: 6
Tree Swallow: 60+ both wetland areas
Eastern Phoebe: 1
Palm Warbler: 1 (yellow)
Eastern Towhee: 3
Song Sparrow: 6 mostly by new wetland area
Savannah Sparrow: 3
Swamp Sparrow: 6 All in the grasses by the new wetland
Field Sparrow: 1 near facility entrance
White-throated Sparrow: 3
American Goldfinch: 11
Butterflies:
ZEBRA SWALLOWTAIL: 1 along the road on the way to the wetland areas
Tiger Swallowtail: 1 near the beach
Cabbage White: 7
Orange Sulphur: 1
FALCATE ORANGETIP: 2 along the dirt road leading to the beach
