Sunny most of the day; 49-69 degrees; good to excellent visibility; winds
mostly from the west, strong in the afternoon, 6-17 mph, gusting to 29 mph
Raptor Observations:
Third fine day in succession; 12 raptor species; the Red-tailed Hawk was
very suggestive of the Canadian form, Buteo jamaicensis abieticola
Non-raptor Observations:
1900+ Blue Jays; 100+ American Goldfinches; several hundred Chimney Swifts;
19 migrant Eastern Kingbirds; new arrival: House Wren

Site Description:
Fort Smallwood Park is located on the western shore of Chesapeake Bay at
the mouth of the Patapsco River, 11 miles south of Baltimore, MD. Best
winds are from the southwest. The Park is closed to visitors on Wednesdays. |
