I was at Hughes Hollow yesterday evening from 6:30 until dark. I was hoping
that maybe the Sora would reappear. While it did not, I did see most of the
birds (except for the Am Bittern) that Dave saw earlier in afternoon plus a
nice Orchard Oriole. I had the Snowy Egret in the large impoundment on the
left side of the main path closest to the tree line on the side away from
the road. There were 2 Great Egrets nearby for a convenient size comparison
and I looked at the Snowy carefully, not because I realized it was unusual
for Montgomery County, but because I hoped it was an immature Little Blue
Heron. I am originally from SC where Little Blue Herons are much more
common and I miss them.
