Cerulean bred for a long time along the canal about 1/2 mile s of the Sycamore Landing entrance. I think the last time they were there was 07 but I might be off by a year.

Subject: [MDOSPREY] Mont. Co.: Hughes Hollow Va. Rail
There was a male Virginia Rail doing its kiddick call this morning at
Hughes Hollow which was heard by several birders. As you walk out on
the main dike it was to the right just before the second (taller) line
of trees. Also FOY Acadian Flycatcher and at Riley's Lock,
Yellow-throated Warbler, and in the development cul-de-sac off W. River
Rd., the Grasshopper Sparrows have returned.
Not many new warbler migrants though, but a lot of novice birders out
looking for them. I need to remember to be skeptical of some of their
reports. I wasted time chasing a reported Alder Flycatcher at Hughes
Hollow (turned out to be an Acadian Flycatcher--at least thre was an
Acadian calling at the same location, and no one else I asked was aware
of an Alder) and got excited by the report of a Cerulean Warbler at
Sycamore Landing until the birder added that these bred every year at
that location (think he must've meant Prothonotary Warbler).
Good birding!
