Morning all,
Yesterday afternoon around 2:30, I saw a small (6) flyover flock of BOBOLINKs, which seemed rather late in the day. Previous yard sightings were mostly in the early AM. An Osprey passed by heading east (probably to Piney Run) at about the same time, right ahead of the very ominous looking black storm clouds moving through mid-afternoon. And a small flock of very bright Yellow-rumped Warblers were feeding in the side yard maple trees by the firewood pile late afternoon-early evening.

This morning the only new yard sighting was of a very beautiful adult RED-HEADED WOODPECKER, which flew southeast along our fenceline, heading towards the woods. Eastern Kingbirds and Baltimore Orioles were heard and seen, as was a single Gray Catbird.

Over the weekend my daughter and I sat on the deck watching a pair of Bluebirds as they sat in our bird fountain and drank and bathed, alongside a pair of American Goldfinches. Really a nice treat, as the fountain is probably only 25-30 feet from where we sat watching. We have two pairs of bluebirds in the yard now, both feeding young. The other boxes are still vacant, being variously occupied by Tree Swallows or House Sparrows. And another box which is supposed to be for chickadees, was full of sticks over the weekend, which I emptied, but is now full again. House Wren perhaps?
