A walk around the Lincoln Monument area today produced these highlights:

Everywhere:
There were more Yellow-rumped Warblers on the Mall than I have ever seen. Each tree had at least one, many 2 or 3. Blackpolls were about, and a couple of Northern Parulas.
   Wood thrushes were about.
Eastern Kingbirds have returned to the Mall.
There are still a few White-throated Sparrows around.
Baltimore orioles were singing but hard to see.

Constitution Gardens:
The pond is being drained, and has attracted a few Killdeer. There was also a female Ruddy Duck in the little water that remained. It would be good to watch the pond while it is being worked on, as these ponds have attracted yellowlegs and Least and Spotted sandpipers in the past (not for me today, though).
