On May Count, Smallwood State Park, Charles Cty, Bob Lukinic and I found pair of House Wrens at the Mattawoman Creek Arts Center right outside the center building entrance--was using an "artistic" nest hung from lower branch of huge tree. First time and a real surprise. We followed the song.

  Folks

House Wrens are not that common in Charles either. I think we get a hand
full on the May count, and they are usually found in older developments that
have trees. Cobb Island is a traditional location, and some of the older
communities around Waldorf. Any of the newer developments (less than twenty
years) seem to be void of this species.
