Subject: Poplar Island Sightings from May 5,2010

       This report is submitted on behalf of Jan Reese of Talbot County, who
continues to periodically survey the flora and fauna of the Paul Sarbanes
Ecosystem Restoration Project at Poplar Island. 
       Some of the birds were seen from the boat during the trip from
Tilghman Island and back.
      Note particularly the presence of Turkey Vulture, Blue-winged Teal,
Peregrine Falcon, American Avocet, White-rumped and Purple Sandpipers,
Wilson's Phalarope, Chimney Swift and Bank Swallows.  Also note the numbers
recorded for Common Loon, Mallard Ducks, Black-bellied and Semipalmated
Plovers, Black-necked Stilts, Purple Sandpipers and Bank Swallows.
