At tonight's meeting of the Patuxent Bird Club and the Prince George's
Audubon Society, Keith Underwood will be talking about the work his
company is doing on improving storm water management. Although this
doesn't sound bird-related, the seepage wetlands they produce are much
more wildlife friendly than the sterile puddles found in most new
communities.

Keith formed Underwood & Associates in 1992 as a landscape architecture
and environmental design firm. Since 1994, he has served as an Associate
Investigator with the Meadowview Biological Research Station [link], and
co-authored a number of scientific papers on Atlantic White Cedar,
threatened species recovery, and environmental restoration.
Additionally, he has served on the Chesapeake Forest Lands Citizen's
Advisory Task Force, the Governor's Terrapin Task Force, and the Board
of Directors of the Severn River Association. He was also the Senior
Science Adviser on the committee that drafted the Anne Arundel County
Bog Protection Act of 2002. His work in stream and wetland restoration
has attracted national attention, and extensive coverage in publications
such as the Washington Post, Baltimore Sun, the Capital, and Chesapeake
Life.

The meeting will be at the College Park airport annex, beginning at
7:30, May 11 at the college park airport. See http://www.pgaudubon.org
for directions. There should be snacks. All welcome!
