Visited the pond Tuesday morning (5/11). Thought I had the semi plovers
at the same location described at first, but they gradually turned into
two large, mobile Killdeer chicks with single breastbands--which ID
received final confirmation when a parent arrived and the two chicks
nestled snugly underneath. Not something I would expect on a mudflat
bordering a pond, but there you have it.

Only other shorebirds were 12 Least Sandpipers, and three Solitaries. A
Black-crowned Night Heron was flying away as I arrived.

Good birding!
