I had a fairly large number of birds at Schoolhouse Pond this morning, both in numbers and diversity. Nothing too unusual, but I did have a total of 56 species including large numbers of gulls flying towards the landfill (at least for this late in the season) with 232 Laughing Gulls, 3 Herring Gulls and 2 Ring-billed Gulls. Shorebirds included 6 Solitary Sandpipers and 2 Spotted Sandipers. Warblers included several yellowthroats, 2 American Redstarts, 1 Prothonotary Warbler, 7 Blackpoll Warblers, 2 Yellow Warblers, and 2 Northern Waterthrush. Also present was a singing Orchard Oriole, male Indigo Bunting, Wood Thrush, 1 Bank Swallow (mixed in with the Barn Swallows), and a Great-crested Flycatcher.
