It seems to me that in tight monetary times building a bike path through a park would be a low priority anyway. It will be interesting to see what happens next. I am all in favor of mixed use parks, as long as activities don't infringe upon one another. There are many parks where bikes and birders coexist without any trouble (except the occasional birder being hit by a biker; that happened to me once on the C&O Canal, totally my fault. I stopped walking to look at a Blue Grosbeak and a young lady hit me.)
Think C&O Canal, Kinder Farm Park, Black Hill Regional Park, etc. Great places to bike and/or bird. And frequently bikers will stop to ask birders what they are looking at, giving a good chance to educate and introduce birds to a whole different group of folks.

Just my $.02

As both a bicyclist and a birder I would prefer to examine the exact details of what is being considered before being asked to draw conclusions or express opposition. Are those email addresses you listed the appropriate people to contact for the details? Or is the proposal posted on the web somewhere?

As someone who has birded and hiked the park extensively, I feel compelled to oppose any consideration for a bike trail at CVP. The character of the park would be altered and the impact on habitat would be too great.
