Jim - many thanks for your posting about the waders!
I just ran down there. All the birds were in the Reflecting Pool
except for one Spotted Sandpiper which was in Constitution Pond. The
Stilt Sandpiper was beautiful - a bright adult, nicely barred on its
belly with it's chestnut cheek patch sticking out well, not as bright
as it could be, but still obvious. Also present were Solitary &
Spotted Sandpipers, and a mixed flock of 12 birds - most Least
Sandpipers but at least three Semipalmated (they were walking in the
water and their black legs showing nicely).
And, the icing on the cake was not getting a parking ticket even
though I parked quite illegally for the quick run to the Reflecting
Pool!
Cheers all,
Steve Hersey
