The highlight of my lunchtime walk around Schoolhouse Pond was a vocalizing Alder Flycatcher. Looking from the road, the bird was in the willows on the righthand side of the pond just past where the boardwalk makes a sharp turn. The bird was calling and occasionally singing from snags atop the scrubby trees in this area, and appeared to favor the willows. I got a few backlit photos of the bird, which were remarkably unhelpful. Fortunately the bird was vocalizing which helped to separate it from Willow Flycatcher and other empids. I tracked/watched the bird for ten minutes or so. It was vocalizing sporadically when I arrived and continued to do so as I left. Yellow Warblers, Blackpoll Warblers continue in large, visible numbers and I also got great views of a low Yellow-throated Vireo.
