I spent some of the morning on the North Central
hiker/biker/triker/walker/talker/jogger/runner/babystroller/horsey/doggie/fi
sherman and finally birder Trail. This place has multi-users galore. I was
in the last group mentioned. Yes I did encounter some old geezer carrying a
fly rod and of course I had to tell him I got one too. I can call him an old
geezer as it turns out he had me by 13+ years. That ain't easy.

Still a few migrants going thru. I was almost on overload while I was trying
to find a BLACKPOLL when a MAGNOLIA came in to my left. I thought I spotted
it but came up with a CHESTNUT-SIDED instead. Whew. Slow down guys.
This action was at the corner of the Bee Tree Preserve, which is owned
by the Towson Presbyterian Church. Their sign asks invaders to get
permission first. I was visually prying into it from the NCR trail. It is
located north of Bentley Springs and south of Freeland Road.

Some of the nice looks I got at local breeders included.N. PARULA,
WORMEATING, BLUE-WINGED, BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLERS, GREAT CRESTED FLYCATCHER
and INDIGO BUNTING (both sexes). I also got one of those rare looks at a
YELLOW-THROATED VIREO while he was singing. Nice of him to come down out of
the canopy into a fairly sparse tree where we can see something other than
his butt.

Birds heard included REDSTART, LA WATERTHRUSH and YELLOW WARBLER.

Encountered a noisy family of HAIRY WOODPECKERS. Hard to believe they've
already fledged some young.

I also solved that long wondered-about riddle as to what an ACADIAN
FLYCATCHER does between songs, other than the flutter call. Ans - he looks
around a lot. Not sure what he was looking for - maybe an intruder. Most
birds grab a bite to eat. This guy looks around.

On the ride over I got a BALD EAGLE in a small tree out in a field along
Upper Beckleysville Rd. Not sure what it was doing there. Didn't spot a nest
nearby.
