Hi all --

It was pretty quiet first thing at Brookside Gardens, despite the sun after
two cloudy days. Only a few Blackpolls heard. Seems as if there had been a
big exodus of some lingerers...

Then things started to get more active, especially around the sunny edge of
Pine Lake and along the miniature RR tracks. Birds of interest recorded:

Spotted Sandpiper- 1
Green Heron - 1 (calling)
Double-crested Cormorant - 1 (odd location)
Ruby-throated Hummingbird - 2
Acadian Flycatcher - 3
Eastern Phoebe - 2
Great Crested Flycatcher - 2
E. Wood-pewee - 3
Red-eyed Vireo - 6
YELLOW-THROATED VIRO - 1
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher - 4
Swainson's Thrush - 3
GRAY-CHEEKED THRUSH - 1
Wood Thrush - 6 (prob. local breeders)
Scarlet Tanager - 1
Cedar Waxwing - 25+
Blackpoll Warbler - 5
Black-throated Blue - 1
Black-throated Green - 1
Canada - 1 (lovely singing male)
Chestnut-sided - 1
Magnolia - 2
Ovenbird - 5 (prob. local breeders)
Redstart - 4
Yellowthroat - 2
Baltimore Oriole - 3

The breeding Parulas were strangely silent today -
