Location: Oxbow Lake
Observation date: 5/23/10
Notes: The Common Moorhen remains at Oxbow Lake. To view it, from the
entrance on Oxbow Place take the trail to the left. Follow the trail along the
lake until you reach the Observation Point across from Gallinule Point (the tip
of the peninsula that juts out into the Lake). I put a marker on the ground
pointing in the direction to look. Stand next to the snag that is about 5 feet
tall and look out in a westerly direction. If you came to try to see the nesting
Least Bitterns in 2008, the moorhen is staying in approximately the same area.
Saw one Cliff Swallow this morning. Met John Hubbell at the observation point
and he confirmed he had also see one. Confirmed the nesting Red-shouldered Hawks
have chicks.
