Subject: Poplar Island Sightings from May 20,2010
This report is submitted on behalf of Jan Reese of Talbot County, who
continues to periodically survey the flora and fauna of the Paul Sarbanes
Ecosystem Restoration Project at Poplar Island.
Some of the birds were seen from the boat during the trip from
Tilghman Island and back.
Note particularly the presence of Tricolored Heron, Ruddy Turnstone,
Red Knot, White-rumped Sandpiper, Eastern Kingbird and Bank Swallow. Also
note the numbers recorded for Mallard and Ruddy Ducks, Black-bellied Plover,
Semipalmated Plover, Least Sandpiper and Dunlin.
