If I were to choose a house to live in in Russett, this is the one I'd pick. It is uniquely situated in one of the birdest areas of Russett (there were 2 Swainson's Thrush on the hiker/biker trail next to it last year and most of the warblers I found this year were in the trees in front of this house). The original owners are selling and want to find new birder-owners that will enjoy the opportunities for birding they have created. They describe it as "Our house is as close to a tree-house as it could be. We've enjoyed watching the birds close-up for many years now. We have a screened-in deck for us and use the outdoor deck for plants and feeding the birds (and anything else that happens along). Am trying to figure out how to get a birder to know about our home. Would be a shame for a non-birder to be here. Unless we know someone will continue to feed our guests, we'll need to start cutting back on feeding soon while the weather is good [new house will not be ready until November]."

So if you might be interested in checking it out, here's the address: 3034 Marsh Crossing, Russett, MD 20724 (at the corner of Marsh Crossing and Big Pool). You probably remember viewing the American Bittern from Big Pool Bluff and just recently we banded 2 of 3 Red-shoulder Hawk chicks who also live on Big Pool Bluff. Oh, a Raven was seen from Big Pool Bluff, too. Big Pool Bluff overlooks the northern edge of the Oxbow. The woods directly behind this house leads you into the county owned woods between Russett and Brock Bridge Road, the outlet channel to the Little Patuxent River, and the open expanse under the BGE power lines.

I have no relationship with the owner or the realtor, just thought I'd pass along this info related to birding at Oxbow. If you want more info, just send me a message off-line.
