I went on a wild crane hunt this morning in Queen Anne's County. No luck with the cranes, but a Great Horned Owl (a life bird, the cranes were not) flew along right in front of my car, then perched for about a split second back in the woods at the end of the road, just long enough for me to click off a burst of desperation shots out the car window before he scooted. Miraculously, one out of ten was actually pretty nice. I also got some great looks at the Grasshopper Sparrows along the edge of the fields by the roadside. I posted a couple pictures here. http://www.flickr.com/photos/27381338@N03/4739965755/
