Howdy,
I cruised the county looking for anything of interest yesterday...activity was fairly slow in the heat. There were an amazing amount of Osprey in/around St. George's Island and Piney Point. A gentleman (possible from the Bay Lab on St. George) stopped and mentioned there were at least 50 breeding pairs in the vicinity...so I'm sure my count was low. Every nest platform I saw had at least two young birds.
A RED-HEADED WOOKPECKER was active on a dead tree just to the left of the campground at the terminus of Camp Merry Land Rd.
