Kevin Graff and I found a probable Red-necked Stint at the crossover dyke at Hart-Miller Island today. Below is a description of the bird which combines both Kevin's and my notes. We wrote these notes while viewing the bird in good light at about 40 yards with 30X spotting scopes.

-short black legs.
-long projection and tail.

-wings and tail appeared to be about the same length
-rufous colored edge on scapulars elimated semi sandpiper.
-plain grey coverts.
-pale had with dark lore, almost clean eye ring or  superilium.

-crown streaked with dark bands which appeared  V shapped when looking at the bird head on.
-smeared breast band with dim streaks.
-short slim bill.
-unable to see unwebbed toes since it was in very shallow water.

Many Least Sandpipers and a couple of Western Sandpipers were seen in the immediate area. There were also Semipalmated Sandpipers nearby for comparison. When we returned and tried to relocate it we found two White-rumped Sandpipers.

Our complete list is below.
