There's a trick to birding in July - get out early. Proudly I can say I was
done and off the trail by shortly after 7 AM. Then I treated myself to
breakfast. Even at 6-7 AM the air was a tad sticky. I see a lot of bikers
and joggers out in the afternoon on these hot days and I have to wonder
where they were at 5 AM when they should have been doing that.

Nonetheless, Hashawa today had some action;

Barred Owl - seen flitting off the trail ahead. Then perched.
Yellow Breasted Chat - singing and seen.
Hooded warbler - heard only.
Acadian Fly - heard and seen well.
Common Yellowthroat - ditto
Scarlet Tanager- one seen, several heard.
Wood Thrush - still singing. Summer's over when it stops, signaling me to
hibernate.

Advising everybody to bird early, then go to work or whatever.
