The bird is hanging along the VA shore about 1 mile upstream from Riley's Lock. Usually in the vicinity of the Mute Swan and the the two sets of fallen snags in the river, where the shore is wooded, a little ways upstream from the VA golf course. You can see the Swan from Riley's Lock and even from Violette's Lock, but the Ibis would be impossible from there. Walk upstream from Riley's a little over one mile to where the towpath is sunken, and walk out to the river for good views. Even from there the Ibis may be hard to pick out. When it was in the shadows along the bank it was impossible to see. Joe Hanfman and myself watched for quite a while before seeing it.

This wooded shore is I think part of Algonkian Regional Park, and might be accessible from there.

Rob and Mike Ostrowski deserve some sort of Iron Man award for finding this bird Saturday afternoon!
