It didn't rain a drop near my apartment, but for the 2 or 3 hours I was 
at Merkle standing on the observation tower, it was absolutely pouring. 
My reward was getting to see a full alternate Common Tern sitting on a 
mud flat on the river with five Forster's Terns. Also present was a 
TRICOLORED HERON and a single Pectoral Sandpiper.
