Hoping for a warbler fallout with this morning's cool temperatures I went
to Milford Mill Park with about a half dozen other birders. Unfortunately
there were only a handful of migrants. I saw one Parula, one Magnolia
Warbler, several Black-&-white Warblers, and two Redstarts in over two hours
of effort. Others saw a Chestnut-sided Warbler. Other birds of note were two
soaring Broad-winged Hawks which were probably migrants, a few Pewees still
vocalizing, an unidentified silent Empidonax flycatcher which occupied too
much of our time, an Acadian Flycatcher that was calling but not singing, a
White-eyed Vireo heard singing, a Red-eyed Vireo, a juvenile Wood Thrush
begging, and a half dozen Common Grackles which have been gone from my area
for about a month.
