We were sitting on our deck in Bethesda in Montgomery County Tuesday evening September 14, watching the last birds fly over in the twilight (still no nighthawks) when we were surprised to have a firefly light up before our eyes.  Sept. 14 seems pretty late.  Any entomologists reading this know if this is unusual (couldn't find anything about dates in Maryland using Google)?
