I spent all day yesterday on the Eastern Shore, but my last stop (at
4:00 PM) was definitely the most productive. At the Murray Turf Farm
in Worcester County, northwest of Ocean City, I had an astonishing 14
AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVERS (several still partly in breeding plumage), 7
or 8 BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS, and 8 SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS. They were
all in a field on Blueberry Road, a short distance before the road
makes the right-angle turn to the south, which had been mostly
stripped of sod. The field on Tull Road, which I checked first, held
only a small flock of Horned Larks and a single Killdeer.
Good birding!
