Hi everyone,
This morning was fairly active here in the yard. A short walk from the deck on my first round of the yard and I had at least 3 Blackpolls in the trees . Then I backtracked a bit to watch lots of activity in a maple tree in the front yard, lit by early sun. It held at least 2 Black-throated Green Warblers, a single Blackburnian, and possibly more Blackpolls. Towards the back yard, in the trees bordering our property, were a Black&White Warbler, and a single Cape May (1st fall bird) Warbler. Also had a young House Wren as well as Carolina (singing), Cedar Waxwings and bluebirds, Downy, Red-bellied, Pileated and N. Flicker, as well as E. Wood Pewees and E. Phoebes.
Yesterday was rather slow, but I did have a single ratty looking Grasshopper Sparrow, Indigo Bunting, and 2 Northern Harriers fly over (one juvie very low flying over the yard, heading towards the power lines). And several Broad-wings, Red-shoulders and a Red-tail.
Interesting to see how "faithful Blackpolls are in their fall arrival here. Last year on they appeared on Sept. 18, this year, Sept. 19.
PS: Still have several hummers here too.
