An interesting selection of birds and birders has been present at the North Beach marsh over the last couple
of days, and I have enjoyed seeing familiar faces as much as unfamiliar birds.
Though not as cooperative as the RED KNOT, the pretty BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER afforded long and luscious
looks today. After several unsuccessful buff-breasted sandpiper chases lately, including yesterday, I am glad to finally get one.
Birds of interest:
Northern Shoveler 2 (female)
Sora 1 (Dan Haas spotted it barely stepping out of the grass on the other side of the marsh in the
pouring windy rain - you go)
Semipalmated Plover 15
Killdeer 8
Greater Yellowlegs 1
Lesser Yellowlegs 6
Red Knot 1
Semipalmated Sandpiper 20
Least Sandpiper 60
Pectoral Sandpiper 4
Stilt Sandpiper 1
Buff-breasted Sandpiper 1 (revealed itself after the rain stopped)
A WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER was present yesterday as well.
Great fun.
