Thinking that the weather looked promising, I drove up to Washington
Monument State Park this morning to help with the hawk count.
It was a great day. The Peregrine count was 12, which is three more than
the old record of 9 ! (One of the falcons came low right over the tower
affording amazing views; a couple of more were also rather close.) We also
counted 14 Kestrels, and five Merlins, in addition to a couple of Bald
Eagles, a Harrier, and a bunch of accipiters. And it was a glorious day to
be on the tower.
