I was driving along Aldino Road in Harford County at 8 AM this morning when I caught a glimpse out of the corner of my eye of several shore birds gliding close to the ground along a cow pasture on my left. They landed in the grass before I got a chance to pull over. I made a U-turn and pulled off and was able to locate what turned out to be a pair of Pectoral Sandpipers foraging in proximity to several Killdeer and European Starlings. I clicked off a couple quick shots out the car window, but when I tried to exit the car to get a better look, the whole flock took off and headed farther south and east and I lost track of them. I posted a couple pictures here http://www.flickr.com/photos/27381338@N03/5066261776/ . Anyone know the late date for this species in Harford? Anyone interested in trying to relocate them can drop me an email for more details on the location.
