Hi --

I read Paul's post on the swans at Riderwood in Calverton and called Don
Messersmith who lives there. Don was out but his wife Sherry solved the
mystery...

Yes, they ARE Trumpeter Swans but they are not wild. Riderwood used to have
Mute Swans on their lake but when one was killed they decided to replace
them. They talked to Don as the the best swan and on his advice, bought a
captive-bred pair of Trumpeters. Sherry didn't know from where they had been
purchased.
