We’ve been seeing many of the same birds here (our Bel Air yard, near Creswell), to include some of the fall arrivals that are being reported throughout the region.

Mainly Sunday, October 10:

Cooper’s Hawk – 1
Red-tailed Hawk – 1
Canada Goose - (small flock movement, probably locals jostling for winter postions)
Great Horned Owl – 1 or 2 calling
Pileated Woodpecker – 2 (oft-present, but more highly visible and vocal lately, to the treat of the observers no doubt)
Northern Flicker – flocks of 10 – 15 birds periodically
Hairy Woodpecker – 2
Red-bellied and Downy Woodpecker, too
Brown Thrasher – 1 (more out in the open now)
White-breasted Nuthatch – 2 (quite the aggressor at the feeder, no back down in them)
RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH – 1 (been around for about a week)
Ruby-crowned Kinglet – 1 (in GC Kinglet flock)
Golden-crowned Kinglet – 4
Carolina Chickadee numbers in the yard are up, Tufted Titmouse too
YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER – 1
American Goldfinch – 5 – 7 (coming to thistle feeders instead of dry flower heads now)
PURPLE FINCH - 4 (3 males, 1 female)
Eastern Towhee – 4 (1 female, all are coming to feeder bases)
Chipping Sparrow – 1
White-throated Sparrow – 5- 10 range, numbers creep up each day.
WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW – 1 (juv.)
