Had some nice surprises in the front yard this morning. Our first white-throated sparrow of the season showed up and perched in a tree, gazing longingly at the seed on the ground but not yet willing to fight the squadron of squirrels for access. A positively spherical ruby-thoated hummingbird dined at the feeder on and off all morning. But best of all was a pine siskin (new life species for me, as well as new yardbird!), who held his own at the feeder against the usual suspects. Nothing highly out of the ordinary, but still nice to see some new faces :)
