Afternoon all,
I had a nice mixed selection of fall birds here in the yard this morning, including my first of season (for the yard) White-throated Sparrows. Also Yellow-belied Sapsucker, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Dark-eyed Junco, lots of chippies, E. Towhee, N. Cardinal, Carolina Chickadee and Tufted Titmouse, Carolina Wren, Yellow-rumped Warbler, loads of robins, Cedar Waxwings, Red-winged Blackbirds, N. Flickers, RB Woodpecker, RS and RT Hawks, SS Hawk, both vultures, lots of goldfinches. As I stepped outside to go to the shop, a brownie Purple Finch flew into the dogwood tree and then to the feeders (which I just filled this morning). As I was leaving the shop to come in for lunch, there were a pair of Pine Siskins at the feeders, along with House Sparrows and House Finches (black oil). The bluebirds seem to have disappeared.
Funny how I have had White-crowned Sparrows frequently already, but no White-throats till today.
This afternoon looks promising for hawks...
