Society. This report was completed Tuesday, November 16, at 7:30 AM.

Top birds this week are YELLOW RAIL* and NORTHERN SHRIKE in MD, and
WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILL* in DE. 

Other birds of interest include ROSS'S GOOSE, COMMON EIDER, HARLEQUIN DUCK,
RED-NECKED GREBE, LEACH'S STORM-PETREL, American White Pelican, NORTHERN
GOSHAWK, GOLDEN EAGLE, Sandhill Crane, AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER, PIPING
PLOVER, MARBLED GODWIT, POMARINE Jaeger, BLACK-HEADED GULL, BLACK-LEGGED
KITTIWAKE, BLACK-CHINNED HUMMINGBIRD, RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD, Selasphorus
hummingbird, BLACK-CAPPED CHICKADEE, LAPLAND LONGSPUR, SNOW BUNTING,
YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD, RUSTY BLACKBIRD and evening grosbeak.

A YELLOW RAIL* was flushed during the Worcester Co, MD Rarities Roundup on
Nov 13.

NORTHERN SHRIKES appeared in two spots. One bird was seen bayside at
Assateague Island, Worcester Co, MD on Nov 13. An adult NORTHERN SHRIKE was
seen throughout the week at the Irvine Nature Center, Baltimore Co, MD. The
bird was joined by a juvenile NORTHERN SHRIKE on Nov 15.

Two WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS were observed from the Cape Henlopen Hawk Watch,
Sussex Co, DE on Nov 10 and 12.

An adult and two juvenile ROSS'S GEESE were spotted near the Visitor Center,
Chincoteague NWR, Accomack Co, VA on Nov 14. 

Up to 19 COMMON EIDERS were at the Ocean City Inlet, Worcester Co, MD over
the Nov 13 weekend. Also seen were one adult male and one female HARLEQUIN
DUCK. Five female BLACK SCOTERS and one female SURF SCOTER were found in the
Potomac River in Washington, DC on Nov 15. A SURF SCOTER was seen at
Violette's Lock, C&O Canal, Montgomery Co, MD on Nov 15.

Two RED-NECKED GREBES were spotted off Deephole Point in Occoquan Bay NWR,
Prince William Co, VA on Nov 13.

A probable LEACH'S STORM-PETREL was seen from the Cape Henlopen Hawk Watch
on Nov 11.

An AMERICAN WHITE PELICAN was flying around Worcester Co, MD on Nov 12 and
13.

A NORTHERN GOSHAWK flew over Terrapin Nature Park, Queen Anne's Co, MD on
Nov 10. A juvenile NORTHERN GOSHAWK was at Swan Harbor Farm Park, Harford
Co, MD on Nov 11. A subadult and two juvenile NORTHERN GOSHAWKS were seen at
the Turkey Point Hawk Watch, Cecil Co, MD on Nov 13. An immature GOLDEN
EAGLE flew over Turkey Point on Nov 10. An adult GOLDEN EAGLE was spotted at
Occoquan Bay NWR on Nov 10. Hawk watches at Rockfish Gap, VA, Kiptopeke, VA,
Snickers Gap, VA and Cape Henlopen, DE all reported GOLDEN EAGLES during the
week.

Three SANDHILL CRANES have been found throughout the week along Broadkill
Beach Rd, Sussex Co, DE.

Up to 8 AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVERS were found along Rt 113 in Worcester Co, MD
Nov 11 through 14. A PIPING PLOVER was seen on the north end of Assateague
Island on Nov 13. Also there were three MARBLED GODWITS.

A POMARINE JAEGER was spotted at the Ocean City Inlet on Nov 13. A
BLACK-HEADED GULL was at Depot Pond, Prince Georges Co, MD on Nov 11 and 12.
A BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKE was on the north end of Assateague Island on Nov
13.  

The Selasphorus hummingbird coming regularly to a feeder in King George, VA
was banded and identified as a RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD.  Last report was for Nov

 An adult male RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD is being seen in
Rockingham Co, VA. An adult male BLACK-CHINNED HUMMINGBIRD was reported from
Claytor Lake, Pulaski Co, VA on Nov 11.

BLACK-CAPPED CHICKADEES continue to be reported in small numbers away from
their usual haunts. Sites in the metro area included Lois Green Conservation
Park, Montgomery Co; Prettyboy Reservoir, Baltimore Co; Blue Mash Nature
Trail, Montgomery Co; and Lilypons, Frederick Co.

A LAPLAND LONGSPUR was along Rumbly Point Rd, Somerset Co, MD on Nov 9. Four
LAPLAND LONGSPURS were seen along Leedstown Rd between Liberty Farm Rd and
Drakes Marsh Rd, Westmoreland Co, VA on Nov 13. Another was seen on the
Snead's Farm Loop Trail in Shenandoah NP, VA on Nov 13. LAPLAND LONGSPURS
were also seen in Worcester Co during the Rarities Roundup. At least 40 SNOW
BUNTINGS were in the dunes of Assateague Island SP on Nov 13 and 14.

Three YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRDS were on 13 Curves Rd between Draper Rd and
Fowler Beach Rd, Sussex Co, DE on Nov 9. A YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD visited a
backyard in Prince William Co, VA on Nov 12.

RUSTY BLACKBIRDS were reported across the region. The annual RUSTY BLACKBIRD
BLITZ will take place Jan 29 through Feb 13, 2011. The idea is to assess
distribution and local concentrations of this steeply declining species. 

An EVENING GROSBEAK was in the campground of Cape Henlopen SP on Nov 12.
